The CASVI delegation visited the United Nations University in Tokyo and held an in-depth dialogue with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representation Office in Japan.

The discussion was moderated by Mr. Qin Shuo, Founder of the China Business Civilization Research Center, author of Qin Shuo’s Moments, and Chairman of CASVI. Participants included Mr. Ma Weihua, Chairman of CASVI and Member of the UN SDG Impact Steering Group; Mr. Ken Shibusawa,also a Steering Group Member and fifth-generation descendant of Eiichi Shibusawa; Ms. Hideko Hadzialic, Director of the UNDP Representation in Tokyo; Ms. Junko Saito, Deputy Director of the UNDP Representation Office in Tokyo; and Ms. Chikako Tada, Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of ANA Holdings Inc.

The exchange focused on three key themes:

Sustainable development practices in China and Japan

Challenges in ESG and impact investing

Industrial collaboration pathways

Mr. Ken Shibusawa shared the legacy of “ethics and profit in harmony” passed down from his ancestor Eiichi Shibusawa, highlighting its influence on Japan’s corporate values. He outlined the progress and obstacles Japan faces in ESG and impact investment, calling for a shift from risk management to long-term social value creation.

Mr. Ma Weihua emphasized that sustainable development is an irreversible global trend. He encouraged deeper regional collaboration between China and Japan to jointly advance the impact investing agenda amid growing global uncertainties.

Japanese representatives also shared several innovative local practices relevant to China, and both sides explored ways to build a structured, multi-layered industrial collaboration framework.

The dialogue concluded with consensus on strengthening cooperation in ESG standards, green innovation, and sustainable finance, aiming to inject fresh momentum into sustainable development in Asia and beyond.
